Detailed Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Nairobi

Location: Nairobi Accommodation: Nairobi Hotel

You will be met upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and transferred to your hotel in the city center. Relax after your flight and enjoy a briefing with your driver-guide about the journey ahead. Depending on your arrival time, you may opt for a city tour or a visit to the Elephant Orphanage.

Day 2

Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

Location: Lake Nakuru Accommodation: Mid-Range Lodge (e.g., Lake Nakuru Lodge)

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive down the Great Rift Valley escarpment. Our destination is Lake Nakuru National Park, famous for its millions of pink flamingos and its sanctuary for both Black and White Rhinos. After checking into your lodge and enjoying lunch, we head out for an afternoon game drive around the lake and the Baboon Cliff.

Day 3

Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara Game Reserve

Location: Masai Mara Accommodation: Mid-Range Lodge (e.g., Mara Sopa or Basecamp)

After breakfast, we drive south through the Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. The Mara is known for its vast savannahs and high concentration of wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for lions, cheetahs, and the massive herds of wildebeest and zebras.

Day 4

& 5: Full Days in Masai Mara

Location: Masai Mara Accommodation: Mid-Range Lodge

We dedicate two full days to exploring the Masai Mara.

Game Drives: Venture deep into the reserve during the day when predators are most active.

The Migration: Between July and October, witness the dramatic river crossings of the Great Migration.

Optional Activities: You may choose to take a sunrise Hot Air Balloon ride (extra cost) or visit a local Maasai village to learn about their culture.

Day 6

Masai Mara to Amboseli National Park

Location: Amboseli Accommodation: Mid-Range Lodge (e.g., Kibo Safari Camp)

After breakfast, we enjoy a final game drive in the Mara before driving to Nairobi for lunch. We then drive southeast towards the Tanzanian border to Amboseli National Park. Arrive in the late afternoon. If the weather is clear, you will be greeted by the magnificent sight of Mount Kilimanjaro looming over the park.

Day 7

Full Day in Amboseli National Park

Location: Amboseli Accommodation: Mid-Range Lodge

We spend the entire day in Amboseli, famous for its large herds of elephants that roam freely against the backdrop of Kilimanjaro. We visit the swamps where hippos wallow and the open plains where cheetahs hunt. We will also visit a local Maasai community to learn about their way of life and enjoy a traditional dance.

Day 8

Amboseli to Tsavo West National Park

Location: Tsavo West Accommodation: Mid-Range Lodge (e.g., Ngulia Safari Lodge)

After breakfast, we drive into Tsavo West National Park. This park is rugged and hilly, offering a different landscape from the plains. We visit the Mzima Springs, a series of natural crystal-clear pools where hippos and crocodiles can be viewed from an underwater glass chamber. We also explore the Shetani Lava Flow, a vast expanse of black lava rock.

Day 9

Tsavo West to Nairobi (or Mombasa)

Location: Tsavo West to Nairobi

Enjoy a final morning game drive in Tsavo West. After breakfast, we drive back to Nairobi, stopping in the town of Athi River or Voi for lunch. Arrive in Nairobi in the early afternoon for drop-off at your hotel or the airport. Note: If you are heading to the beach (Mombasa/Diani), we can drop you off at your beach hotel instead of returning to Nairobi.
