Day 1

Nairobi to Old Moses Camp (Judmaier)

Distance: 9km / 5.5 miles Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Habitat: Rainforest / Bamboo Altitude: 2,600m (Gate) to 3,300m (Old Moses)

You will be picked up from your hotel in Nairobi early in the morning and driven north to the Sirimon Park Gate. The drive passes through the lush agricultural lands of the Kikuyu people, offering views of the highlands. After registration, we begin the trek. The trail is a gentle climb through a dense rainforest and bamboo zone. We arrive at Old Moses Camp in the late afternoon. The evening offers a peaceful atmosphere and a spectacular sunset over the Laikipia Plains.

Day 2

Old Moses Camp to Shipton Camp

Distance: 14km / 8.7 miles Hiking Time: 6-7 hours Habitat: Moorland / Alpine Desert Altitude: 3,300m to 4,236m

Today we leave the bamboo zone behind and enter the alpine moorlands. The trail winds up the Mackinder Valley, offering stunning views of the twin peaks of Batian and Nelion. The vegetation turns into unique giant Lobelias and Groundsels. This is a steady ascent, giving your body time to adjust to the altitude. We arrive at Shipton Camp in the early afternoon. The rest of the day is spent resting, hydrating, and enjoying the views of the summit. You will have an early dinner to prepare for the midnight trek.

Day 3

Shipton Camp to Point Lenana Summit & Return to Old Moses

Distance: 24km / 15 miles Hiking Time: 8-10 hours Habitat: Alpine Desert / Glacial Scree Altitude: 4,236m to 4,985m (Summit) to 3,300m (Old Moses)

The Summit Day. We wake up at 2:30 AM for tea and biscuits. Under the cover of darkness, we start the steep, scree-filled ascent to Point Lenana. The trail is physically demanding, but we walk slowly ("Pole, Pole"). We aim to reach the summit (4,985m) by sunrise. On a clear day, you can see Kilimanjaro in the south and Mt. Meru in the west.

After celebrating and taking photos, we descend back to Shipton Camp for a hot breakfast. We then continue the descent down the mountain to Old Moses Camp, arriving in the late afternoon. You will sleep soundly tonight after a long day on your feet.

Day 4

Old Moses Camp to Sirimon Gate & Return to Nairobi

Distance: 9km / 5.5 miles Hiking Time: 3-4 hours Habitat: Rainforest Altitude: 3,300m to 2,600m

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast at Old Moses Camp. We descend the same trail back to the Sirimon Gate. The descent is pleasant, giving you a final chance to spot wildlife in the forest. Upon reaching the gate, we sign out and meet our driver. We enjoy a picnic lunch before driving back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon for drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
